Kaitrynn's 9 Month Check Up

Wow I cannot believe that we are at 9 months. Okay in some ways I take that back. It has been a long.... nine months. I am so grateful for these two amazing girls. They each have such a sweet spirit about then and are both great girls. I know I always say this, but Brooklynn is the Best Big Sister in the world. She just gets in there and just does things to help out with Kaitrynn. She has changed many many poopie diapers with out me even knowing about it. She does a great job at it too. She loves to go to the Dr. with me and she the progress her sister is making. She is always concerned for her well being. She loves that Kaitrynn gets to be her roommate and sleep with her.

Kaitrynn got a great review this last week. We love our "LISA". She is our Nurse Practitioner at Dr. Coombs office. Kaitrynn likes to go and see her. I can always tell she enjoys being there by her smile and her body language. Here are the details of our visit. She has made some great progress.

Head: was 17 1/8 inches = 50 percent on the growth charts.
Her length: was 26 1/2 inches. She was 24 3/4 at her 6 months check up. She definitely has gotten longer.

Her weight : Now this is a different story? She still goes each week for a weight check. I took her last week Tuesday. She was 14lbs 1 oz. That was great she had gained 6 oz that last week. When we went back 3 days later on Friday, she was 13 lbs 15 oz. Needless to say she is not even on the growth charts yet for weight. She will get their some kids just put on the weight really slowly. She has been back on her feeding tube a week now to try to get some more weight on her little cute body.

I am enjoying the summer at our pool. That is the biggest perk living here. We love the pool and wait all year for the chance to use it. I am also enjoying the Facebook website. It's been fun to connect with old friends. Brennen continues to work hard to be the provider. We are grateful for him. As we end this week with the 4Th of July Think of those that have sacrificed for our freedom or those that are out there now. I am grateful for this time of year and for our FREEDOM. We are lucky to live in America. Have a wonderful 4Th of July Ya all !!!!!!!!!

Summer Dance Recital 2008

Summer dance recital came and went with a bang. Brooklynn has now completed her 3 year of Ballet. Just when she is getting the form and routine down she is ready to move on. In the Fall she will be moving on the the Jazz, tap and hip hop class. This will give her a chance to move her body in different ways and experience a different style. I am proud of her. She did a great job last night.

This is Brooklynn before the performance. She was a little nervous. She did really well.

Kaitrynn Wading in the pool

This is the first time that Kaitrynn stepped foot into our pool. This is the response we got. Isn't this a priceless photo. She loved it. She can't get all the way in due to her feeding tube button. I did set her on the edge and she kept kicking her feet in the water. She just loved it so..... much! It made me sad that she couldn't get in the water all the way :( . This last week we tried the power packing with the canola oil. We made it a day and a half. It didn't agree with her stomach at all. This was suppose to help put added calories to her diet. When you are vomiting all up you are not getting the added calories you need. To make a long story short we are back on the "TUBE" at night feeding her. We had a rough night on Saturday night and decreased the pump. It is so ... frustrating at times. We are trying to increase the food intake from 2 jars of food a day to 3 jars. This isn't the best scenario this far, she vomits because she is to full of food. I have tried every thing that family and friends have told me with in reason. I have bought suckers, soy yogurt, pudding, and such and she just hasn't loved it all. I have to buy soy, because she is Lactose intolerant. She loved the soy peach yogurt the other day. By nightfall she had gas from the yogurt :(. I looked on the package and said that the enzymes that are put in contain milk. I mentioned that to my Dr. and she said that it is broken down enough it schouldn't bother them? Wrong everything seems to bother our Kaitrynn. We will go tomorrow for a weight check and hopefully through this crazy week of eating and vomiting some she will have found it in her enough to gain weight. The Dr. mentioned to me on Friday that this will continue to be an up hill battle. Gaining weight for these little tike's is an up hill battle for a few years. They said to have the tube in until she is 3 or 4 years of age. I am grateful for all the help that we are receiving from the health professionals. I think If I was anywhere else then Utah, We would be up a creek with out a paddle. We are blessed to be so close to one of the best children's hospital. Stay tuned Brooklynn has her summer dance recital tomorrow night. I will post those photos then.

Anyone heard of using Canola Oil to Power Pack???

POWER PACKING STARTS TODAY !!!!!

I took Kaitrynn to the Dr. today for our annual weight check. She is still 13lbs 9 oz, she has been this much for 2 weeks now. We have been given specific directions on canola oil. I am to put 1/2 tsp of oil in her formula and food each day. She is back to survival mode. She is back to gaining weight to live, not to grow like she needs to be. The thought behind the oil is to put a little fat on her bones. I am thinking that she will not like this one bit. I tried it this afternoon with putting it in her food. It went well for the first time. We will give it a week and see where she is then. Tobey what is the trick? What am I doing wrong here : ) . I know I am doing great!!!

The Egbert Family Reunion 2008

THE EGBERT REUNION JUNE 12-15 2008
Burley, Idaho

Grandfather Jack Curtis Egbert was born the 23 July 1922. He was one of 17 children of the Egbert/ Beckstead family. Out of the 17 children there are 2 with us. This is my Great Aunt Larue Schmidt. She is the only sister living. Her brother John Clair Egbert was our great camp host this year for reunion. The reunion has been going on for over 30 years now. Each year it's fun to see the new generations that are being added to this AWESOME Family of ours. It's usually 4 days long anywhere from Utah, Alabama, California, Washington etc. Save your pennies and pack your bags we are all heading to Buchanan, Georgia next year, June 18-21 2009. Kaitrynn and Brooklynn with their Great Great Aunt & Uncle John and Jenni Egbert in Burley, Idaho. Thanks for being great Camp Hosts!

" The Team Fredna"
They had a slide show presentation inviting us all to Georgia next year. They said the food will cost $0. The room and board will cost $ 0 and the transportation will cost $0 (Once we are there), so there for it's PRICELESS. It was really cute!!! Team Fredna is the kids of Fred and Edna Glasgow. Even though these parents have passed on their legacy is still with us.

Kaitrynn and Brooklynn hanging out with their Grandpa Wosnik at the Reunion. we got to go up with my parents. I am grateful for them and there willingness to take us up. I couldn't have gone up there and done it with out them. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa.

This is Brooklynn's cousin Johnny Egbert. They have so much fun visiting each reunion year.

The girls had fun playing with all their cousins and doing all the fun activities. They had boating and time to play in the lake. This is Nora Wosnik and Olivia Wosnik hangin out playing at Reunion.

Here are a few on the boat. My sister in law Christa and Nora chillin on the boat.

The one night that we stayed in Burley, we spent the night in a hotel with my parents. Brooklynn was so excited she had never stayed in a hotel before. She thought that was a lot of fun to do that. It was a fun filled 2 days. Thanks again for all those that made this Reunion possible. See ya all next year.

Summer 2008 Is here I think ?????

Summer has started off kind of rough this year. It is June 11, 2008 and it was 49 degrees this morning until early afternoon. The joke is Utah weather wait 10 minutes and the weather will change. That is so... true. Brooklynn has only been able to swim a few times since Memorial Day due to the cold weather we have had. Here she is sporting her look with her Dad. She bought all the summer pool equipment with her own allowance. This is her favorite thing to do in the summer.

Kaitrynn has enjoyed being a spectator this summer. We plan to put her feet in, but with the chilly weather we will wait. I will miss not being able to have her in the pool this summer. She went for her weight check yesterday. She is up to 13lbs 9 oz. The Dr. told her to keep up the good work. She rolled over today tummy to back. That is always exciting when they cross a milestone.

This Is Therapy Week For Kaitrynn

This Is Roxann, Kaitrynn's great Occupational Therapist. I don't know where I would be with out her. When Kaitrynn was having some issues back in January, my Dr. referred her to us. Wow!! Kaitrynn has improved, so much thanks to Roxann, and for all of her hard work. She is amazing what she can do with these little ones, and what she can turn them into. Thanks Roxann!!!! Kaitrynn only has to wear her THUMB SPLINTS at night now :). She is making great progress with grasping things that she is strengthening her muscles as she plays. Good job Kate on all of your hard work.

I took my camera to therapy today. I take Kaitrynn to the Primary Children's Rehabilitation her in Bountiful. I take her once a month now. They help her with her mobility skills along with eating also. Roxann was real impressed here with Kaitrynn. She is holding her leg up. By her doing this she is building her muscles and using great strength. Way to go Kaitrynn.

Kaitrynn is being encouraged to get the ball.

She is almost there .

She got it. Good girl Kaitrynn! The ball is a great thing for her to get her thumbs around.

Kaitrynn was trying some Gerber snacks that melt in your mouth. This was a tomato basil one. As you can see this is not what she wanted or liked to say the least.
