Brooklynn asked if she could use the digital camera the other day. She went in her room and this is what I found on the camera. She is really into makeup and dress up and doing her own hair. She had fun this day. Brooklynn is enjoying school and thinks science is fun! She is looking forward to summer, so she can be home with mom and her sister.Thursday, March 6, 2008

Harris family is well
Hello to all of you! We are doing well as we start this week off. Kaitrynn met with Joel our in home occupational therapist this morning. He is from the Davis County Early Intervention program. He comes once every two weeks and is focusing on her eating. We also see Roxann at PMCH in Bountiful once a week also. She is working with Kaitrynn on her fine and gross motor skills. Last week she ordered thumb splints that Kaitrynn will need to wear. Another fun thing we get to do in this fun course of life. She is harboring her thumbs pretty tight. She is at a point where those thumbs need to come out. These little braces will help them do that, so the thumb muscles can develop the right way.
Brooklynn is doing well, we had her school SEP this last week. She is doing really well in reading and such. Her teacher is a great one who really sees that her students do well in her class.
Brennen is doing well. This is his first week of his new job as home install at RCWILLEY'S. He is so happy at his new place of employment. He gets a real workout and says each night that he hasn't slept this hard in a long time. He is loving what he is doing and getting a real work out at the same time.
I am doing well. This week i finally feel like i might be getting a handle on things around the house. I am loving being at home I know I say that a lot, but I am truly grateful for the chance I have to be home. Until I write again next time have a great week all. We love you all.

Things are well at the Harris Home : )

We started our week out preparing for Kaitrynn's surgery. Monday we spent the day preparing. We also went and spent the day in Kaysville and visited Grandma and Grandpa. Brennen gave Kaitrynn and I a blessing. It was a real comfort to know that things would go well. She was scheduled to arrive for surgery at 10:45 am. She couldn't eat or drink anything after 9:15 am. We got there and got all checked in. We waited and we waited. The nurse finally came at 11:30 and said that the surgery time was 12:30 and that the Dr. would be down to see us then. 2:00 came still no Doctor. I asked the nurse and she said that the Dr. was behind from the last surgery. By this time Kaitrynn was fit to be tide. It was 5 hours since she had anything in her stomach. She slept part of the time, but the time she was awake she wasn't happy and nothing would make her happy not even her binkie. Finally at about 2:30 pm the Dr. walks out to see if there were any questions before the surgery? That was the easiest part of the day handing her to the surgical team. I thought that was going to be the hardest part. The hardest part was seeing her so..... hungry all those hours and not able to give her anything :( . She made it through the surgery with flying colors. They kept her over night that night in the post opp area. She smiled at Brennen first. She finally seemed to really wake up about 9:30 pm. She seemed to snub Mom like it was my fault. She really wouldn't give me eye contact. She stayed that night in the post opp 23 hour observation area. She became dehydrated that night and was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. She was able to rest and have some lortab for the pain. By Wednesday afternoon she was smiling at me. I was grateful I didn't want her to think that it was my fault that she had the surgery. She came home on Thursday afternoon. She has had a great weekend up to this point. She weighs 11lbs 4 oz now. She is making good progress. She seems to be happier.
Brennen had a job transfer that fell in his lap within the last week or so. Yesterday was his first day. He is still with Rc Willey. He is part of there WOW team. The home installation team. This is a great move for him. He has the 7 Rc Willey stores feeding his team business. He will have his own van and trailer to drive around and he will have a helper. He will be responsible for this helper and the jobs that are assigned to him. He will be setting up surround sound systems and big screen TV's Etc. The commission will be better in a since that we won't have to worry about returns on him. Brennen is so..... excited to be able to do this and learn a trade. It will give him the chance use the skills he is good at. I am excited for him and am grateful to my heavenly father for blessing us with this opportunity.
I am loving staying at home with my girls. Kaitrynn seems to enjoy being at home with Mom. I am hoping things will calm down now that Kaitrynn is stable with her tube. I am grateful for my family and friends for all that has been done for our family. We have been through a lot the last 4 months, but we sure have seen the great blessings a long the way. We love you all and have a HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!! Love You ALL, The Harris Family

The month of Love
Hello all we have had a great week. We started the week out by taking Kaitrynn to the surgeon. Dr. Myers at PMCH. She determined at that visit that a G tube ( Feeding Tube ) is the next
step for Kaitrynn. We set the appointment for this coming Tuesday the 5th of February. Some are probably wondering what a G tube is?? The DR. will make a little cut into her stomach, this is done all through a camera. It should only take a couple of hours. We will be there for a few days. Some are asking why Kaitrynn needs this done? She is only taking 10-12 oz of formula by mouth daily. A child her age should be taking 4 to 6 oz 6 to 7 times a day. This is also a need for her to put more weight on. She needs to put more weight on, so she can begin to build her core muscles the ones she will use to roll over and such. She will have this tube until she can hold her own, so to speak. It can be anywhere from a year to two years. I am just grateful for modern technology and that we have the ability to have something like this. Please keep her in your prayers this week.
Brooklynn had a great week. She went on her first field trip this year in first grade. They went to the Tree House up in Ogden. She had a really fun time and talked about it for 2 days. She had her first friend from school over yesterday they had a lot of fun. She was sad about the passing of out dear prophet. She said he was her "Favorite and that she will miss him". She has said a lot of cute things about him.
Brennen and I are doing well. I am loving being a stay at home Mom with my girls. It is fun to be with Kaitrynn and Brook all of the time. It is working out well checking on my neighbor and doing things she needs me to do. This is a true true blessing.
Have a great week I will post updates this week on Kaitrynn's progress. I am a little frustrated about the posting. You type it all perfect and then I go to post it and the wording is all of. I am still learning this whole blog thing bare with me. Love to all of you have a great week.
